China Urges U.S. to Revise Its Approach Toward Nation

(MENAFN) Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Jiang Bin demanded Monday that Washington fundamentally revise its approach toward Beijing, halt encouragement of separatist movements, and discontinue actions that heighten cross-strait volatility.

Jiang issued the statement when questioned about Washington's latest national security strategy paper, which claims the United States opposes unilateral alterations to cross-strait arrangements.

The newly enacted U.S. National Defense Authorization Act similarly seeks interference in Taiwan-related matters, Jiang noted, echoing earlier statements from the U.S. Secretary of Defense.

"There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a part of China. These are indisputable facts based on history and jurisprudence, and they are also the unchangeable status quo in the Taiwan Strait," Jiang said.

He emphasized that Taiwan's future remains an internal Chinese matter requiring no foreign involvement. Any strategy leveraging Taiwan as a geopolitical tool against Beijing will ultimately prove futile, he added.
